International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world on 12 May of each year, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.

International Nurses Day marks the anniversary of Florence Nightingale. Known as the lady of the lamp and considered as the founder of modern nursing, she stands as an example of the importance of the profession today.
